Shouldn't We All Get Worried?

I was shocked when I read this. I wonder does the Pisang Goreng vendor in KL does this as well.

The After Workout Meal : Beef Noodles

Today I'm going to write about Pho Hoa at The Curve. Pho Hoa is the largest Vietnamese restaurant chain in North America with locations in almost every city where Asians densely populate. It's also a franchise restaurant. You can find the outlets in Asian countries like Malaysia, Korea, Singapore and the Philippines.

Pho Tai

Mr H is a very serious meat eater. We would eat meat everyday if given a chance. The fact that he knows that protein do come from other type food, he still thinks meat is the best. Yeah sure, some of you might concern about the cholesterol but if you know how to manage it (will tell about it on my next write up) you'll be fine. As for me, I just love soup. So it was a perfect choice for us.

Mmmmm... Beefy!

We were in a hurry that day as both of us need to run errands. So we settled for their Fried Spring Roll filled with mince chicken and vegetables for appetiser. I could see Mr H's nostrils starts to swell when he begin to chew it. That indicate one thing, the food is good (or in any other occasion, when he's feeling vain).

Oodles Noodles

Both of us had Pho Tai ( Noodle Soup with Round Eye Steak). Mr H didn't say a word. Yep.. he's enjoying it allright. The portion was quite generous. The soup was tasty. Very beefy said Mr H. Each bowl of soup is accompanied with fresh coriander leaves, mint leaves, basil, bean sprouts, cili padi, lime wedges... to give the customers a complete, nutritious and well-balanced meal. They also served it with a special sambal made from Chillies, lemon grass and ginger.

The Condiments

There's a lot of choices of noodles for you to choose from. We will definitely will try others on our next visit. For those who would like to have something healthy. So go on down to The Curve and get your self a bowl of Beef Noodles that won't burn your pocket.

Huong thu thuc an cac ban! (enjoy your food) as they say it in Vitenamese.

April's Fool : It's Farish's Birthday!

It's one of my colleague birthday today. So... as usual, we feast. Today got the good old Domino's (mmmm PIZZA...)

We ordered the Board Room Deal 3, costs us about RM 125 but we have to add RM5 more for the Double Decker Crust (mmmmm... my favourite). The Deal includes of 6 regulars Pizzas, 3 BreadStix, 4 bottles of Coca-Cola (can hear my inner conscience screaming now) and 2 Chicken Wings.

The delivery was kinda late. I ordered it at 11.31am. So, your bitchiness has to called and shriek. Bitching on how inefficient they are... blah..blah... and by 12.20pm the food finally arrived. All is well. Can't you tell by the pics below?

Carbohydrate : The Ultimate Comfort Food

Feeling kinda miserable today. Supposed to be fasting but I was feeling kinda low. So I tell myself; puasa esok ajer la.

So, on my way to work, I stopped at the stall by the train station, got myself nasi lemak with sambal sotong and two bergedil. I felt soooooooooooo good right after I gobble up everything down my throat. Sorry I didn't took the photo as I was so sad so I have to stuffed it all to face immediately.

With roots in Malay culture, its name is a Malay word that literally means 'rice in cream'. The name is derived from the cooking process whereby rice is soaked in rich coconut cream and then the mixture steamed. Sometimes knotted screwpine (pandan) leaves are thrown into the rice while steaming to give it more fragrance. Spices such as ginger (common in Malay cuisine) and occasionally herbs like lemon grass may be added for additional fragrance.

Traditionally, this comes as a platter with cucumber slices, small dried anchovies (ikan bilis), roasted peanuts, stir fried water convolvulus (kangkong), hard boiled egg, pickled vegetables (achar) and hot spicy sauce (sambal). Nasi lemak can also come with any other accompaniments such as chicken, cuttlefish, cockle, beef curry (beef stewed in coconut milk and spices) or paru (beef lungs). Traditionally most of these accompaniments are spicy in nature.

Nasi lemak is traditionally a breakfast dish, and it is sold early in the morning at roadside stalls in Malaysia, where it is often sold packed in newspaper, brown paper or banana leaf. However, there are restaurants which serve it on a plate as noon or evening meals, making it possible for the dish to be treated as a delicacy. 'Nasi lemak panas' meaning hot nasi lemak is another name given to nasi lemak served with hot cooked rice.

So tonight, if the 'low' feeling is still kinda hanging around, I might get another serving of Nasi Lemak with Ayam Goreng Berempah.

Hungry? Cari Budak Ramly

Today I want to talk about Malaysian's favourite burger. Ramly Burger! I could eat them everyday. Whenever me & Mr H got hungry in middle of the night, Burger Ramly is the definite choice.

Why it's a Malaysian favourite? Because it's cheaper than McD and BK. Of course it taste waaaaaaaaaaay better. The taste sure perk you up punya lah!

Stalls selling these burgers can be found in its small towns and big cities. Our favourite stall is the one in Taman Tun Dr Ismail. Right in front of the 7-Eleven Jalan Burhanuddin Helmi. Our must have is the Double Special witch consists of two beef patties, margarine, a lot of onions, an egg, cabbage, Maggi Seasoning and minus the mayonnaise (Damn, I feel like having one right now!).

Every neighbourhood will definitely have at least one, two maybe even three or four of these stalls scattered around. And the weirdest part is, you will definitely find one just outside a 7-Eleven store.

So, since Mr H is not in town and I don't feel like cooking. I'm heading for a Ramly Burger tonight!

Your Colon Is Screaming : Detox Time!

Almost everyone I know have a binging weekend. Most of the thing that we binge are destructive force to our well being. Some binge on alcohol and some binge on all sort of fats.

Why we need to detox? 70% of your immune system is in the intestine. Stress fatigue irregular meals weather changes and antibiotics can impact on your body’s natural defenses. Our digestive system needs essential fatty acids to help prevent inflammation and food allergies.
To strengthen your immune system experts suggest you try a Detox.

Here's a recipe that you can try.

Avocado & Tomato Salad With Shallots

Ingredients
1 large shallot or
2 smaller ones, peeled and finely chopped
2 tsp balsamic vinegar
3 medium tomatoes, sliced
1 ripe avocado
olive oil
salt & black pepper

Put the finely chopped shallot in a small bowl or container, such as an egg cup, with the balsamic vinegar while you prepare the salad.

Arrange the sliced tomatoes on one side of a plate. Cut the avocado into halves and remove the stone; cut through the flesh to the skin but not through the skin itself. Starting at the pointed end, peel the skin away with your fingers; if the avocado is
ripe enough, this should be easy. Arrange the avocado slices on the other half of the plate.

Carefully, using a teaspoon, arrange the chopped shallot in a fine line between the two halves, leaving any excess vinegar behind. Drizzle olive oil over the salad, grind some black pepper over everything and put a little salt on the tomatoes. Serve immediately.

Hey Nong & Jimmy : Hand Over That Crab!

OK. I do not have more than 3 photos for this entry. Why? Mr H and my fingers are kinda grubby from the food that we ordered. What can I say, he's a crab lover and I am the Lala concubine.

Despite being tucked away in a nice corner of suburban Kuala Lumpur, Nong & Jimmy's in Taman Cahaya, Ampang, is never short of patrons. So what's the catch here? Thai Seafood BBQ, that's what!

Nong & Jimmy's are known for their delicious Fried Rice with copious serving of prawns in them. The house speciality is their barbecued crab. Mr H was totally enjoying it. I think he even forgot that I was sitting beside him. The shell is surprisingly easy to break, unleashing the succulent and sweet meat which was pressure cooked inside its shell. Mr H just savour it by its own.

We also ordered Lala, fried kailan and grilled prawns. As usual when the Lala is served, I started to stuffed my face as if I haven't eaten for 5 months! The Lala cooked with secret sauce along with basil and chillies which makes it a prefect combination. If you like smoky and nicely seasoned taste I suggest you order the Grilled Prawns. Both barbecued crab and prawns are served with two different sauces. Sweet chili sauce and chili sauce with crushed peanuts.

Lastly, we had Chakoi and Pandan Kaya. The Chakoi was simply magnifique. Crispy outside and soft inside. For RM3 we got quite a portion of it.

So head on to Nong & Jimmy's for a moderately inexpensive meals but for those who are on a tight budget, stay away from delicious barbecue crabs as they go for RM40 per kg.
